Education Council

Message from the Chairperson

As Chair of the Education Council of St. Joseph, it is a
pleasure to welcome both new and returning families to the 2011 -2012
school year at St. Joseph School.

The role of the Education Council is to maintain the spiritual and
educational purpose and integrity of St. Joseph School. The Chairperson
is appointed to serve the St. Joseph Family for a 2 year term, with the
help of seven other appointed members, each of whom are parents or
guardians of children currently attending the school. In addition, the
most current President of the Home School Association serves on the
Education Council.

The Education Council meets monthly with the Principal of St. Joseph
School and the Pastor of St. Joseph Parish to assist in the governance
of the school and to help develop and evaluate policies under which the
school is managed.

The Council is responsible for enacting long range projects and goals
for St. Joseph School as directed by the Principal, Pastor and members
of the Council. In addition the Education Council works with the
Principal to maintain the historically excellent curriculum standards
of St. Joseph School.  The Finance Committee of the
Education Council has the critical responsibility of monitoring the budget
and finances of the school in order to ensure the fiscal soundness of
the school.

Should a matter regarding school policy or programs arise, any parent
or guardian of a student in the school may contact any member of the
Education Council to have his or her concern presented prior to the
monthly meeting. The dates of all monthly meetings are posted on the
school calendar.

Our children are our most valuable gifts, entrusted to us by God. It is
with that trust that we have made a conscious decision to educate them
in an environment in which Jesus is always present.

As a school community, or “school family”, we are called to work together for
the well being of our children. Throughout the school year,
opportunities are given for parents to share their talents with and for
their children, and parental involvement is strongly encouraged on all
levels to ensure the continued success of St. Joseph School. It is with
that in mind that the Education Council serves our St. Joseph School
Family.
